About the position

The Test Engineer will support senior Test Engineers in the coordination of test plan implementation and follow ET30 procedures for Structural Strength Testing. This role involves test planning, scheduling, procurement, procedural preparations, test conduct, and fixture fabrication, while ensuring effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, including NASA project level customers.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior Test Engineers in coordination of test plan implementation and follow ET30 procedures for Structural Strength Testing.
  • Plan, schedule, procure, and prepare procedures for tests.
  • Conduct tests and fabricate fixtures as required.
  • Interact with drawings of facilities, test hardware, customer hardware, and instrumentation requirements.
  • Write instructions for technician operations, including application of safety procedures.
  • Coordinate with NASA project level customers to ensure mission success.
  • Work with a diverse team to design, develop, setup, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware.
  • Participate in safety culture initiatives and attend relevant meetings and reviews.
  • Develop and deliver reports and presentations to support customer requirements.
  • Perform safety and certification training as needed.

Requirements

  • Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience in the aerospace field is required.
  • Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
  • Strong desire to conduct detailed hands-on work in a lab testing environment.
  • Experience with load control systems and instrumentation systems, particularly strain, displacement, and force measurement.
  • Familiarity with facility and space hardware operations, high pressure gas and hydraulic systems, and operations involving cryogenic liquids and explosives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a laboratory testing environment on sub scale models to full scale structures.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards.
