About the position

The Test Engineer/Data Analyst position at JHNA involves supporting Army Aviation science and technology development at Fort Eustis, VA. The role focuses on conducting data analysis and supporting test and evaluation events for innovative aircraft and UAS technologies. The successful candidate will collaborate with various experts to shape the future of military aviation by providing critical insights and presenting findings to Army Senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans and Data Management and Analysis Plans (DMAP) including test objectives and essential evaluation test metrics.
  • Determine innovative ways to collect aircraft and payload empirical test data and observations.
  • Develop test cards used to collect test data from operators and test vendors that support metric evaluation.
  • Identify data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by performing detailed analysis of the content, structure, and relationships within data.
  • Manage and perform data analysis using mathematical, statistical, optimization, econometric, and other scientific methods with software tools such as Excel Data Analytics, Access, Python (AI & ML), MATLAB, and MS Business Intelligence.
  • Develop and orally present information clearly, incorporating text, charts, tables, graphs, and pictures as appropriate.
  • Document results by writing and editing material for clear and concise reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, and related technical publications.
  • Author or support the writing of test reports with input from team members for S&T test and experimentation events.
  • Conceptualize and formulate problem statements, develop solutions, and analyze methods to examine solutions' effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve complex problems and research technologies and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or higher) in a STEM area or Data Science, Operations Research/Business Operations/management from an ABET or equivalent accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the field.
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Military Science and Technology and/or Test and Evaluation community, preferably with Military or Army Aviation experience.
  • Ability to be at the government site 2-3 days per week.
  • Ability to travel 30% of the time with extended periods (2-3 weeks) two to three times per year.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal training in Operation Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA) or Data Science.
  • Graduate of an Experimental test pilot or test engineer school.
  • Knowledge of document configuration management and knowledge management processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Data Item Deliverables.
