About the position

The Test Engineer II position at Unum focuses on ensuring the quality of existing and new features through both manual and automated testing, particularly with the FINEOS platform. The role involves collaboration with Business Analysts to create acceptance criteria, developing test scripts, and advocating for Quality Assurance best practices. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in testing and a passion for delivering high-quality customer experiences in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of existing and new features through manual and automated testing.
  • Partner with Business Analysts to create acceptance criteria for user stories.
  • Produce test scripts, materials, and regression test packs for software testing.
  • Evaluate and plan for regression testing for new releases of third-party/cloud-based solutions.
  • Assist with and drive test automation through all phases of testing.
  • Advocate for Quality Assurance best practices across the team.
  • Analyze and report test activities and results using industry best practices.
  • Create test strategies, plans, cases, coverage, and execution reports.
  • Maintain traceability records from test cases back to requirements.
  • Communicate daily with the Scrum Master or Team Lead on progress and impediments.
  • Participate in sizing and estimation activities within the agile team.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure features meet or exceed expectations.
  • Automate testing of software to industry standards.
  • Create and maintain appropriate test artifacts for the team.
  • Direct activities of onshore and offshore testing teams as needed.
  • Ensure project progress is known to the agile team through ALM tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Test Engineer role or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with FINEOS.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and critical thinking skills.
  • Logical and analytical approach to problem solving with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Agile Development Methodologies.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • Strong focus on quality delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to solve complex testing needs and drive overall solution quality.
  • Test Certifications preferred (ISTQB, CSM, CSD, CSP).
