About the position

The Test Engineer II position at Lindsay Corporation focuses on designing and performing tests on irrigation pivot products and systems to enhance their safety, reliability, and durability. The role involves leading test program development, analyzing results, and making design recommendations to improve product integrity. This position is integral to ensuring that products meet the high standards expected in the irrigation and infrastructure industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the program development for Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics product groups.
  • Develop, direct, and execute test programs and analyze test results.
  • Communicate test results and make design recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Determine test equipment requirements and design and fabricate test fixtures using SolidWorks or other design tools.
  • Set up test equipment using advanced instrumentation or tools such as DEWESOFT and perform data analysis.
  • Plan and conduct performance evaluations of prototypes and production equipment in field tests and lab environments.
  • Review product designs for potential weaknesses and concerns.
  • Utilize FMEA/DVP&R techniques to enhance product reliability and durability.
  • Organize test programs, including facilities, manpower, procedures, and timing.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to improve product design specifications.
  • Prepare detailed reports and test procedures documenting results, methods, and equipment used in evaluations.
  • May provide work direction to engineers, test technicians, or drafters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Agriculture Engineering or Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in MS Office.
  • Previous knowledge and experience working on irrigation or mechatronics systems is highly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical problems and solutions effectively.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. up a ladder.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar design software.
  • Familiarity with advanced instrumentation and data analysis tools.
