About the position

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Division (HII-MTD) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Test Engineer, Radar Systems. The Test Engineer will be responsible for performing technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, as well as conducting cost and risk analyses and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. This role encompasses all levels of the total system product, including testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and sustainability. The engineer will be expected to properly employ test assets to meet customer-driven test objectives and will perform functional analysis and timeline analysis. A deep understanding of testing philosophies and methodologies within an agile test environment is essential for success in this role. The responsibilities of the Test Engineer include RF chain analysis and radar system performance analysis, along with all aspects of test execution. The position requires hands-on test, integration, and verification support across lab facilities, necessitating skills in algorithms, software, hardware, and networking. Additionally, the engineer will support technical publications by developing test planning, test procedures, and test reports for customer releases. The role also involves supporting technical and functional leadership through the identification of risks associated with testing and system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
  • Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed.
  • Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
  • Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

Requirements

  • 0 years experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to consistently deliver at a high level with minimum supervision and maintain continuous communications with peers and upper management personnel.
  • Ability to negotiate through conflicting demands for resources and manage time to drive overall organizational success.
  • Ability to setup and support HITL test equipment, along with test customer setup including interfacing with data acquisition hardware/instrumentation.
  • Develop requirements for HITL build-up and customer needs.
  • Familiar with RF and electronic test equipment.
  • Good analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able and willing to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance with advanced security checks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with either Radar or Electronic Warfare System design and/or testing desired.
