About the position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Test Engineer to support on the VRE PSES contract. The ideal candidate would provide testing support utilizing various tools to ensure quality product is delivered to our VA customer. This position is full time and fully remote. The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing testing methods and equipment to ensure that the product will perform to specifications. This includes planning and arranging the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating the product. The engineer will design test cases for test plans and create test scenarios in which tests are carried out. They will compile data, define required changes, and report defects and problems that occurred during the test process. Additionally, the engineer will implement and participate in the walkthrough of the product, with automated testing being utilized based on the hiring manager's discretion. The responsibilities also include consulting with the development and/or requirements team to coordinate and test applications, performing analysis, diagnostics, and preliminary evaluations of products, and developing testing procedures. The Test Engineer will develop test plans, scripts, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and deployment tests. They will implement the testing processes and ensure all test activities follow those processes, producing reports on each test activity and tracking test metrics. Continuous improvement of the test process will be monitored through failure analysis, throughput analysis, yield analysis, and periodic reporting to management. The role requires manual and automated testing of integrations, interfaces, data transfers, and APIs, as well as testing web services using tools like Ready API, Postman, Wave, and AMP. The engineer will be involved in the end-to-end software testing life cycle, including testing, defect logging, verification of closure of defects, and root cause analysis. Functional testing will encompass system, regression, and user acceptance testing, along with database testing using SQL queries and simple scripts. A thorough understanding of integration requirements and mapping to user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases is essential. The engineer will use Jira for maintaining sprint test artifacts and X-RAY for test execution, analyze test results, manage defects, and maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM). Proactive communication and coordination with various internal and external project stakeholders is also a key aspect of this role.

  • Work experience in AWS Cloud, Exposure to CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, GitHub, etc.
  • Proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Analytical and investigation skills, willingness to learn and ability to troubleshoot.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 - 8 years of experience (or commensurate experience).
  • Experience in Manual, Integration, Functional and Automated Testing.
  • Extensive Jira experience building test plans, issues and executions and creating report outputs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Extensive Integration & Interface Testing experience.
  • Exposure to Corporate Database, MPI, VA Profile Database, existing API services in VA network, writing simple Oracle scripts for testing.
  • Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment.
  • Well versed in Agile Methodology, the VA Veteran-Focused Integration Process (VIP) project management methodology.
