About the position

Canvas is seeking a Test Engineer (Air-to-Air) to support the 780th TS at Eglin AFB, FL. This role involves establishing standards for test documentation, providing technical management for test and evaluation of major programs, and representing the Squadron at various conferences. The Test Engineer will also develop test planning documentation, forecast test assets, and act as a Test Director during mission execution.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards for test documentation and technical reporting.
  • Provides technical review of test directives, methods of test, data packages, letter reports, and technical reports.
  • Provides technical management and accomplishes engineering duties related to the test and evaluation of major programs.
  • Represents the Squadron and AFTC at conferences and with other commands on matters pertaining to T&E of conventional weapons systems.
  • Brief and debrief executing aircrew on mission execution and requirements.
  • Develop test planning documentation for an emerging weapon program.
  • Forecast test assets and range requirements.
  • Integrate with program offices and prime contractors.
  • Act as a Test Director/Test Conductor during mission execution.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in Engineering desired.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders and resolve competing test resource requirements.
  • Self-Motivated to learn new systems under test and be proactive to meet program requirements.
  • Experience in DoD weapons acquisition process.
  • Experience with USAF and USN fighter/bomber/attack Test, operations and weapon systems.
  • Test Pilot School graduate or Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) graduate desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced weapon systems and technologies.
  • Familiarity with military test and evaluation processes.
