About the position

The Test Engineer will support Hydraulic Test Cell operations, focusing on testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of aircraft components. This role involves collaboration with Design Engineers to fabricate new test stands and fixtures, as well as participation in R&D Test Engineering to address complex testing issues through reverse engineering processes. The position requires a strong understanding of hydraulic systems and the ability to ensure accurate calibration of test instrumentation.

Responsibilities

  • Support Hydraulic Test Cell operations, including testing, troubleshooting, and calibration of aircraft components.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers to fabricate new test stands and fixtures as per specifications in Component Maintenance Manuals.
  • Solve complex component test issues using reverse engineering processes.
  • Calibrate test instrumentation accurately, understanding standard units of measurement for flow, pressure, rpm, thermal, and vibration.
  • Develop and execute test plans for hydraulic systems in the aerospace industry.
  • Create and interpret hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
  • Design and draft using CAD, with proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret hydraulic component drawings and technical publications to determine design intent for test stands and instrumentation.
  • Use hand measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers, as well as optical comparators, for precise measurements.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring equipment, 3D Scanners, and Optical Comparators for reverse engineering efforts.
  • Apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fluid mechanics, loads, geometry, and trigonometry in testing procedures.
  • Learn and utilize industry-related software and adhere to FAA CFR145 Repair Station Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in test engineering and test plan development.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and aerospace testing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD design and drafting tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with LabVIEW and PLC programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and hydraulic component drawings.
  • Skill in using hand measuring tools and basic measuring instruments.
  • Ability to operate Coordinate Measuring equipment, 3D Scanners, and Optical Comparators.
  • Understanding of mathematical concepts related to engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry-related software and FAA CFR145 Repair Station Guidelines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in reverse engineering for new product introduction.
