About the position

As a Test Engineer at Stoke Space, you will play a crucial role in the development of reusable rocket systems that aim to revolutionize access to space. Located at our Moses Lake test site, your primary responsibilities will include collaborating with a team of engineers and technicians to design and construct test stands, as well as operating and maintaining these systems once they are operational. This position requires a hands-on approach, where you will engage with both hardware and software components, mechanical systems, and electrical systems. Your work will involve testing various rocket components, engines, and full stage vehicles, ensuring that all systems function efficiently and safely. In this dynamic environment, you will be expected to stay focused and adaptable, moving quickly to meet project demands while also being self-directed in your learning and problem-solving. The role will require you to manage project schedules, write detailed test procedures, and perform hazard analyses to ensure safety during testing operations. You will also be responsible for analyzing test data and troubleshooting any issues that arise with the fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems used in testing applications. Additionally, as part of a small team, you will contribute to the daily operations of the site, which may include shipping and receiving tasks and other administrative duties. Responsibilities

  • Designing and building fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
  • Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fluid, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems for various test applications
  • Managing project schedules
  • Writing test procedures
  • Performing hazard analysis
  • Performing test data analysis
  • Safely operate high pressure and cryogenic systems
  • Performing everyday tasks to keep the site running, including shipping and receiving and administrative tasks

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or similar
  • Exceptional command of fundamentals
  • Related experience from internships or college organizations
  • Experience with integrating and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems
  • Experience with high pressure or hazardous environments
  • Willing to work outdoors for long periods of time
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and follow
  • Passion for building high-quality systems and a positive attitude
