About the position

The Test Engineer position at Defense Unicorns is a critical role within the Delivery segment, focusing on providing secure DevOps solutions to our Mission Heroes, who are our customers. This position requires a U.S. citizenship due to the nature of the work, as it involves contracting for the U.S. government. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing tests for bare metal Kubernetes (K8s) clusters and AWS clusters that host defensive cyberspace applications. The role is designed for either a mid-level or senior-level engineer, with compensation reflecting the level of experience and performance during the interview process. As a Test Engineer, you will be expected to work closely with a team of 10 engineers from various disciplines. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the test expert, facilitating collaboration among team members to identify and implement the most effective testing solutions. You will be part of a cross-functional team that employs DevOps and agile methodologies to build a comprehensive system. This role will also involve architecting a test strategy that strikes a balance between speed and confidence in the products being released. You will have the opportunity to recommend and utilize various testing tools to enhance the testing process. The position requires a strong understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) ecosystems, as you will be responsible for integrating various types of tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, smoke, and chaos testing. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring the reliability and security of the applications we develop for our clients in the defense sector.

Responsibilities

  • Be the test expert on a team of 10 engineers of varying disciplines that takes input from all members and facilitates finding the strongest solutions.
  • Work on a cross-functional team of engineers utilizing DevOps and agile disciplines to build a larger system.
  • Help architect a test strategy that balances speed and confidence in released products.
  • Recommend and implement testing tools to enhance the testing process.
  • Develop and integrate various types of tests including unit, integration, end-to-end, smoke, and chaos testing.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
  • Experience in DevOps practices and methodologies.
