About the position

The Test Engineer position at Horton, Inc. involves collaborating closely with Application and Product Development Engineering teams to ensure that testing meets the requirements of test requests. The role includes defining new testing methodologies and procedures, managing test request procedures, and maintaining data integrity within a corporate database of test data. The Test Engineer will also be responsible for overseeing test protocols across all Horton Engineering test locations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates incoming test requests for clarity and completeness, determining if testing is feasible with existing equipment and systems.
• Develops methodologies or sources equipment when requests exceed current capabilities.
• Collaborates with internal customers to identify the best methods for achieving testing results and provides guidance on gathering information from test plans.
• Revises the test request process, data retention, and lab scope, determining optimal management strategies for these factors.
• Evaluates new technologies and test methods to assess their effectiveness in identifying weaknesses in existing or proposed designs.

Requirements

• Requires a 4-year Engineering degree.
• Good communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Familiarity with PLCs and C-programming is desired.
• Familiarity with data acquisition and controls experience is desired.
• Experience with CAD, GDT, FEA, Reliability Testing, and Design of Experiments is preferred.
• Previous job experience in a test environment is preferred.
