About the position

The Project Test Engineer position involves supporting the AASHTOWare Project software utilized by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). The role focuses on creating, executing, and managing test cases for letting and compliance software, utilizing Azure DevOps, and providing backup support to the lead systems engineer. This position is remote but limited to candidates located in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and manage test cases for AASHTOWare Project software.
• Utilize Azure DevOps for managing testing processes.
• Backup the lead systems engineer as needed.
• Translate business user specifications/User Stories into Test Cases.
• Organize and manage a central repository of Test Cases.
• Migrate existing MS Excel test documentation to a centralized tool.
• Work independently and manage own work tasks and deadlines.
• Coordinate team participation to complete testing assignments.
• Communicate technical issues and processes clearly to team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of experience in testing or systems engineering.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience with automated testing tools and methods.
• Ability to review and translate business user specifications into Test Cases.
• Experience working in a SCRUM software development environment.
• Familiarity with data models and ability to read them.
• Proficiency in MS Power Automate, SQL, C#, .NET, Python, PowerShell, or similar for task automation.
• Strong experience using MS Azure DevOps, MS Teams, O365 applications, and MS Office Suite.
• Ability to work well in a virtual team environment.
• General familiarity with change management processes in an enterprise environment.

• Experience with Cloud Services like AWS or Azure.
