About the position

Canvas is seeking a Test Engineer (Air-to-Air) to support the 780th TS at Eglin AFB, FL. This role involves establishing standards for test documentation, providing technical reviews, and managing engineering duties related to the test and evaluation of major programs. The Test Engineer will represent the Squadron at various conferences and will be responsible for developing test planning documentation and integrating with program offices and prime contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Establish standards for test documentation and technical reporting.
  • Provide technical review of test directives, methods of test, data packages, letter reports, and technical reports.
  • Manage engineering duties related to the test and evaluation of major programs including development tests, engineering evaluation tests, operational evaluation tests, and joint T&E programs.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Flight Chief.
  • Represent the Squadron and AFTC at conferences and with other commands on matters pertaining to the T&E of conventional weapons systems.
  • Brief and debrief executing aircrew on mission execution and requirements.
  • Develop test planning documentation for an emerging weapon program.
  • Forecast test assets and range requirements.
  • Integrate with program offices and prime contractors.
  • Act as Test Director/Test Conductor during mission execution.

Requirements

  • Master's degree and 10 years of relevant experience; Master's degree in Engineering desired.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders and resolve competing test resource requirements.
  • Self-motivated to learn new systems under test and be proactive to meet program requirements.
  • Experience in DoD weapons acquisition process.
  • Experience with USAF and USN fighter/bomber/attack Test, operations and weapon systems.
  • Test Pilot School graduate or Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) graduate desired.
  • Must have and be able to maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with advanced weapon systems and their integration with various platforms.
  • Familiarity with military test and evaluation processes.
