About the position

The Test Engineer position at Systems Technology & Research, Inc. (STaR) involves supporting the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Project Office (UAS PO) at Redstone Arsenal, AL. The role focuses on test planning, scheduling, and execution for uncrewed aircraft and systems, ensuring thorough evaluation and documentation of testing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, conduct, and supervise test plans for uncrewed aircraft, systems, and subsystems.
  • Work closely with engineers, pilots, technicians, government agencies, vendors, and manufacturers to evaluate and document testing.
  • Support Test & Evaluation (T&E) lead and PM test team in planning and executing Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and test documentation.
  • Provide written and verbal assessments to management regarding status, issues, and risks.
  • Attend and provide feedback for various test and technical meetings.
  • Provide input to scopes of work (SOWs) to ensure appropriate test activities are incorporated.
  • Advise on developing suitable test requirements based on stakeholder expectations.
  • Conduct, report, and status test activities for systems and platforms.
  • Coordinate with small teams of test technicians and engineers for test events.
  • Provide oversight for test activities and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, write, and staff Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP) for new configurations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering discipline with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Prior team leadership experience or motivation to develop such skills.
  • Knowledge of Test & Evaluation procedures & practices.
  • Knowledge of US Army Aviation uncrewed, fixed, or rotary-wing platforms.
  • Knowledge of current DoD acquisition framework and procedures is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of uncrewed aircraft systems and systems engineering processes is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing Lifecycle or Acquisition milestone documentation.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting briefings and technical papers.
