About the position
The Test Engineering Intern will be a full-time member of the Test Engineering team at Arc, working from the manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. The role focuses on supporting the development of electric water sport boats by drafting test procedures, collecting and analyzing test data, and performing development tests. The intern will work in a fast-paced startup environment that encourages ownership and adaptability.
Responsibilities
- Drafting test procedures, instrumentation plans, and work instructions
- Collecting and analyzing test data to inform design decisions
- Creating test stands for design validation or manufacturing
- Performing development and qualification tests of next generation products
Requirements
- Hands on project experience
- Basic experience with CAD software
- Basic experience with data acquisition systems
- Strong grasp of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with high performance electric vehicles, solar cars, Formula SAE, or similar
- Exposure to sheet metal manufacturing, CNC machining, CAM, 3D printing, and shop tools
- Experience with test instrumentation (accelerometers, strain gauges, load cells, transducers, microphones, voltage sensors, thermocouples, RTDs)
- Experience creating detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets
- Comfortable pushing a fast but sustainable pace
- Enthusiasm for boating and clean energy
