About the position

Steampunk is seeking a Lead Test Engineer who will provide testing and QA expertise in mission-critical work across our client base. This role involves leading the overall testing effort, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and implementing standard processes and methodologies in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall testing effort and deliverables.
  • Work with the testing team to ensure that testing is on time and of the highest quality.
  • Conduct test planning activities and estimation, defining test scope using risk-based testing.
  • Implement governance and reporting processes.
  • Ensure adherence to testing standards, guidelines, and methodologies as specified in the test strategy.
  • Perform all test management activities including resource management and risk management.
  • Manage test environment, test data preparation, test tools, and test automation implementation.
  • Collaborate with application and technical architecture teams to plan various test phases.
  • Review tests to ensure they meet entry and exit criteria.
  • Define and facilitate formal sign-off processes for testing deliverables.
  • Act as the primary contact and escalation point for testing.
  • Mentor junior team members and act as an individual contributor.
  • Present regular status updates and provide cross-training to other DevOps team members.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in business computer, Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience with quality assurance and test automation practices in an Agile work environment.
  • Experience in Software Testing (Manual and/or Automated), System Test, Integration Test, and User Acceptance Test.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex business and systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • CAST (Certified Associate in Software Testing) certification.
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification.
  • Certified Manager of Software Testing (CMST).
  • DHS Trusted Tester Certification (TTv5).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment and performing gap analysis.
  • Experience in designing and developing automated frameworks.
  • Experience in building monitoring systems or improving testing effectiveness.
