About the position

The Raymond Corporation is seeking a Test Engineering Technical Specialist for the 2nd shift at our Syracuse, NY location. This role is integral to our Engineering Test Lab, which conducts tests on hardware and software changes across the entire Raymond product line prior to customer release. The successful candidate will work closely with Reliability, Engineering, Marketing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure the quality and performance of our products. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the testing of new product development and product health projects. You will assist engineers by taking charge of routine tests, setting up and operating test equipment, vehicles, prototypes, fixtures, or products for both standard and unique tests. Your role will also involve assembling, repairing, and running equipment for new or non-routine tests, as well as testing products and equipment based on verbal and written instructions. You will be expected to resolve routine questions and problems that arise during testing. Data processing and reporting will be a significant part of your responsibilities, requiring you to follow defined methods and utilize spreadsheets, graphs, and formal written reports and presentations. You will extract engineering and manufacturing data from various sources, both internal and external to the company, and communicate test results effectively to other team members, including test engineering technical specialists, designers, engineers, and managers. Your ability to analyze and interpret data will be crucial, as you will be making recommendations based on your findings. Additionally, you will provide guidance to other technical specialists in your areas of expertise and be a leader in the practice of 2S/5S methodologies. This position requires both independent work and collaboration as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Support testing of new product development and product health projects.
  • Assist engineers by completing routine tests.

  • Understand and lead the practice of 2S/5S methodologies.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a test engineering lab environment.
  • Broad experience working on non-standard assignments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with specialized test equipment and computer training.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, PCAD, Pro Engineer Software, gages, meters, and hand tools.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and presentation.
  • Experience reading engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of principles of electronics, hydraulics, and engineering or manufacturing processes.
