About the position

The Test Lab Software Engineer at Hartzell is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications that support the design, testing, and FAA certification of propeller systems. This role involves creating desktop applications, managing data acquisition for lab and flight tests, and providing data analysis tools to meet engineering needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain in-house software applications utilizing appropriate coding standards and documentation.
  • Support Hartzell's engineering test lab personnel in the acquisition and analysis of test data.
  • Assist with hardware troubleshooting of existing DAQ stations.
  • Support Hartzell's engineering team with specialized projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience writing software applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using LabWindows/CVI software
  • Experience programming in C, C++, or C#.
  • Experience utilizing common lab instrumentation such as strain gages, thermocouples, RTDs, and telemetry systems.
  • Willingness to embrace a wide range of software application types when developing new solutions, adapting to the unique needs of each project.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand project requirements and translate them into clean sheet software solutions.
  • Experience programming and working with robotic technology
  • Experience developing efficient GUI designs
  • Experience working with and interpreting mechanical drawings and engineering schematics.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative environment.
