About the position

The Test & Repair Technician Lead (RMA) at SPX is responsible for managing the evaluation and repair of customer returns of RF system hardware. This role involves leading the day-to-day RMA operations, ensuring that repaired products meet quality standards, and identifying root causes of defects. The position requires expertise in testing and diagnosing issues, adhering to ISO 9000 quality standards, and maintaining effective communication with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage customer returns through the end-to-end RMA repair process.
  • Evaluate customer returns of failed RF products using RF testing equipment.
  • Document evaluation results and actions taken to resolve issues.
  • Repair faulty units by identifying and replacing defective components.
  • Manage outside repair service centers and coordinate communication with suppliers.
  • Perform self-inspection to ensure functionality and reliability of repaired systems.
  • Complete required process documentation including Agile RMA tickets.
  • Write and update work instructions and other documents.
  • Provide input to Root Cause Analysis Reports and communicate field quality issues to management.
  • Present monthly and quarterly RMA test and repair metrics.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting RF based equipment.
  • Working knowledge of RF, DC, and electronics theory.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing test processes and work instruction generation.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work under pressure with clear communication.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Experience with LabView, Linux, and configuration of Windows based products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in managing RMA returns.
  • Hands-on ability to inspect, test, or perform any task as needed.
  • Working understanding of Labview, Linux & Microsoft Windows, IT networking.
  • Deep understanding of test equipment such as signal generator and network analyzer.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and B.O.M.
  • Experience in the manufacture and testing of PCBAs and wire harness.
