About the position
The Patient Account Representative for SMRMC or MS Cancer Institute is responsible for managing patient accounts with a focus on coordination of benefits, subrogation, and compliance with government regulations. This role requires strong accounting and business office skills, as well as excellent public relations abilities to address patient inquiries and complaints. The representative will assist with the orientation and management of personnel and is expected to work professionally with various stakeholders, including patients and medical staff.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate benefits and subrogation for patient accounts.
- Address and resolve patient inquiries and complaints regarding charges.
- Assist with orientation and management of personnel assigned to the unit.
- Obtain necessary authorizations for treatments or procedures in hematology/oncology.
- Perform general account reviews and manage work assignments based on daily priorities.
- Function within the scope of approved policies and procedures of the department.
Requirements
- Knowledge of coordination of benefits and subrogation.
- Understanding of government regulations regarding third-party recoupment.
- Strong accounting and business office skills.
- Excellent public relations skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to work professionally with peers, physicians, and administration.
Nice-to-haves
