About the position

The position at Maharam involves providing technical textile support to various internal departments and ensuring the quality and efficiency of textile products. The role focuses on coordinating fabric testing, conducting inspections, and collaborating with design and sales teams to meet customer demands and production objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the textile manufacturing process and be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical textile support for internal manufacturing plants, Customer Service, Purchasing, Sales Coordinators, and Sales Representatives.
  • Coordinate, maintain, and publish fabric physical testing to meet requirements of KnollTextiles and ACT.
  • Conduct fabric inspections for new fabrics in development.
  • Make independent decisions about color & dye lots, finishes, defects & characteristics, and rejection process.
  • Maintain color standards in conjunction with the mill.
  • Investigate and help resolve all claims and returns from internal and external customers, process chargebacks to mills.
  • Assist and lend textile guidance to Quality Assurance Representative during fabric inspections.
  • Perform textile training for Sales Representatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Design team.
  • Manage application testing and approval database.
  • Initiate and manage ECNs (electronic change notices).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, BS/BA preferred, Textiles degree a plus.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a technical textile discipline.
  • Understanding of the textile manufacturing process from fiber to finished fabric.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical issues with internal and external customers as well as textile mills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to coordinate materials, textiles & production groups to meet customer requirements.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
