About the position

The Toxic Gas Monitoring System Specialist (TGMS) at Jacobs will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of safety systems for semiconductor manufacturing and other industrial facilities. This position involves collaborating with engineers and stakeholders to ensure the technical quality and functionality of process chemical systems and gas cabinet monitoring, ultimately contributing to the safety and efficiency of client operations.

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with client counterparts to design facility systems.
  • Support the technical quality and functionality of engineering and programming tasks.
  • Utilize AutoCAD and other engineering tools for design and documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers and stakeholders on project delivery.
  • Conduct field verifications in construction environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Ability to attain PE licensure.
  • Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) and electrical design requirements.
  • Knowledge and application of NFPA 400 Hazardous Materials Code.
  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems and manufacturer's equipment including VESDA systems.
  • Design experience with Fire Alarm, VESDA systems, TGMS sensors, HPM sensors, and Leak Detection.
  • Knowledge of design and construction specifications.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Suite including MS Word, Access, Outlook, and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE Registration.
  • Knowledge of IFC, IBC, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, and NFPA 72 Fire Alarm and Signaling Code.
  • Working knowledge of 3D BIM software (Revit).
  • Design experience in semiconductor or datacenters.
  • Experience estimating and scheduling mid to large-scale projects.
  • Understanding of diagrams and schematics related to controls systems, networking, electrical, and mechanical.
  • User level experience with AutoCAD drafting software.
