About the position

The Kitchen Server at The Houstonian Club plays a vital role in providing exceptional food and drink service to members and guests. This position is centered around creating a welcoming dining experience, ensuring that patrons enjoy their meals while adhering to high standards of hospitality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Take food and drink orders accurately.
• Ring up orders correctly in the POS system.
• Demonstrate passion for hospitality and menu knowledge.
• Describe menu items to enhance the dining experience.
• Identify food allergies and make appropriate recommendations.
• Recommend food pairings with wine.
• Resolve customer issues promptly to deliver a memorable dining experience.
• Prepare guests' drink orders and expedite food when necessary.
• Maintain table settings by removing completed courses and replenishing utensils.
• Clear leftovers and keep dining areas neat and pleasant.
• Stock up stations with necessary supplies.
• Wear assigned uniforms and maintain a clean appearance.
• Complete closing shift reports and duties.
• Adhere to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum one year of previous server experience in a fine dining restaurant.
• Must be at least 18 years of age with current T.A.B.C. certification preferred.
• Ability to perform daily work with high accuracy.
• Knowledge of alcohol beverages and wine.
• Ability to take direction well and pay attention to detail.
• Comfortable memorizing orders and specials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional appearance and behavior.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient technology skills in the POS system.
• Ability to multitask effectively.
