About the position

The Color Developer at The North Face is a key member of the Materials team, responsible for collaborating with the Print Design, Color Quality, and Color Design teams to fulfill the brand's seasonal print and color requirements. This role combines technical expertise in color management with a creative approach to support the aesthetic vision of the product, ensuring color consistency and quality across various product categories.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Print Design Team, Color Quality Team, and Color Design Team to support seasonal print and color needs.
  • Partner with the Creative Direction team and Materials to develop, track, and commercialize seasonal printed fabrics.
  • Provide technical expertise on textile printing technology and preferred methods for different fabric types to Product teams.
  • Establish a partnership with the Creative Direction team to be a trusted expert in print execution and color feasibility.
  • Communicate print and color execution comments to suppliers through the print strike-off and approval process.
  • Develop a global seasonal color palette for apparel, equipment, and footwear.
  • Create and maintain seasonal color-calibrated .ase files and corresponding Design tools.
  • Manage and communicate color feasibility, restricted approval, and consistency across multiple substrates.
  • Create and track the development schedule for color, managing calendar dates and deadlines across different product categories and regions.
  • Support the Design community's ability to achieve their aesthetic vision through educational seminars and services.
  • Ensure color consistency across all global TNF categories and functions.
  • Manage Color QA tools, color libraries, color swatches, and color tools.
  • Review, document, and track color lab dip and print submissions.
  • Partner with product development and design teams to identify color issues and recommend solutions.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Color Development, Design, or Graphic Design.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Textiles, Design, or a related field, or comparable job experience.
  • Experience with color calibrated printing.
  • Knowledge of color science and/or textile product dyeing and finishing.
  • Proficient in operating a spectrophotometer and related data-management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of the Adobe CC suite and MS Office (Word, Outlook, and intermediate Excel skills).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent creative problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • High color perception required, with testing for qualification.
