About the position

The Policy and Records Manager at Metropolitan State University of Denver is responsible for overseeing the university's administrative policy governance framework. This role involves collaborating with university leaders and policy stewards to ensure effective creation, maintenance, and communication of policies in alignment with the university's strategic goals and legal responsibilities. The Manager also serves as the Custodian of Records, managing responses to requests under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance tools and processes for university-wide policy initiation, development, review, and maintenance.
  • Assist with the policy development process to achieve consistency and avoid duplication among policies.
  • Establish a continuous improvement process for university policy practices.
  • Educate the university community on policy processes and interpretations.
  • Collaborate with policy stewards to assess policy needs and assist in drafting and revising policies.
  • Administer the review process for university administrative policies to ensure accuracy and alignment with broader objectives.
  • Track compliance with policy review requirements and communicate status to relevant councils and leadership.
  • Facilitate meetings of the University Policy Advisory Council (UPAC) and prepare materials for senior leadership meetings.
  • Develop and disseminate information regarding new and amended policies to the university community.
  • Monitor the university's CORA request mailbox and manage timely responses to requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Language Arts, History, Political Science, Communication, Business, or Computer Information Management.
  • 1-3 years of experience working with policies and procedures or related administrative experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience supporting senior leaders in a higher education or similar setting.
  • At least 3 years of experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in writing, editing, and proofreading documents.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in using Microsoft Office communication and collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to write and edit clear, concise text for publications.
  • Knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and editorial styles.
  • Experience providing workshops or training to staff, faculty, or students.
