About The Position

The Theater Supervisor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake is responsible for coordinating and managing all events in the Bayou Theater. This role includes serving as the production coordinator and stage manager, ensuring the technical aspects of shows are secured, and maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the theater facilities. The supervisor also hires and trains technicians and assists with the UHCL Art Gallery as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years of experience in theater management or a similar position.
• Experience in technical theater areas such as light and/or sound operation and design, and theater rigging.
• Decisive and analytical abilities with equipment, planning, and marketing.
• Good interpersonal skills for effective communication with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to meet fluctuating deadlines and work hours with facility renters.
• Capability to handle multiple administrative and technical theater tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to perform extensive physical activities common to a dynamic stage environment, including climbing, lifting, and building.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools and complicated theater equipment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the university liaison and coordinator for events in the Bayou Theater.
• Act as production coordinator and stage manager for all events.
• Advance and secure the technical aspects of UHCL presented shows and rental events.
• Ensure the safety, usability, and cleanliness of the theater and surrounding facility.
• Hire and train technicians for the theater.
• Maintain and upgrade the UHCL Bayou Theatre facilities and equipment.
• Coordinate labor and serve as lead technician for events.
• Train staff on theater equipment and procedures.
• Assist with installations, maintenance, and upgrades for the UHCL Art Gallery.
