About the position

The Theatre Technical Director at Thiel College is a part-time, 10-month role responsible for managing the construction of theatre scenery and assisting in various technical aspects of theatre production. This position involves supervising student workers, maintaining shop machinery, and ensuring the successful execution of departmental productions, with a strong emphasis on lighting design.

Responsibilities

• Manage the construction of theatre scenery.
• Assist in the construction, placement, and rigging of scenery for departmental productions.
• Perform general maintenance and upkeep of shop machinery and tools.
• Help plan and organize construction projects.
• Instruct and supervise student workers in the construction of theatre scenery and other technical aspects of theatre production.

Requirements

• Minimum of a BA/BFA in Theatre with an emphasis on Technical Theatre/Lighting.
• MFA preferred; candidates with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Theatre/Performing Arts (MA/MFA) are encouraged to apply for the Adjunct for Theatre appointment.
• At least two years of working experience in lighting and the technical preparation and construction of theatre scenery and stage units.
