About the position

The Therapist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating direct social services to patients and their families in an acute care setting, which includes partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services. This role involves providing therapeutic treatment, crisis intervention, and case management while ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social services to patients and their families/significant others.
  • Deliver therapeutic treatment services to individuals, groups, families, and/or significant others.
  • Conduct individual treatment sessions with patients as needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and assess for safety daily.
  • Interact with patients, family members, and significant others with respect and dignity.
  • Participate in psychoeducational support sessions with patients and families.
  • Provide case management and therapeutic interventions to all assigned patients.
  • Serve as a patient advocate for grievances, following system policies.
  • Manage patient/family expectations regarding services provided.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with referring providers and care teams.
  • Implement goals and interventions as specified in the Care Plan.
  • Ensure goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely).
  • Document progress according to the treatment plan and complete discharge documentation on time.
  • Identify patient's presenting problem, progress, current status, and treatment recommendations.
  • Contact outpatient providers and stakeholders to discuss aftercare.
  • Report and document suspected cases of abuse according to state law and system policy.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in clinical interventions.
  • Evaluate interdisciplinary interventions and modify the Care Plan as needed.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of treatment needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary staffing for treatment planning and progress review.
  • Ensure patient safety and communicate safety concerns to the treatment team.
  • Document safety incidents and adhere to system guidelines for safety.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited school.
  • Experience in health care and psychiatric settings preferred.
  • In-training as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-IT), Marriage and Family Therapist Training License (MFT-TL), or equivalent.
  • A SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC required in WI.
  • Substance abuse specialty authorization applicable to the state hired in is required.
  • Working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and techniques for all age groups.
  • American Red Cross Professional Rescue certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Formal training in management of aggressive patients (NCI) required within 60 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cognitive behavioral therapies.
  • Familiarity with the dynamics of human growth and behavior.
