About the position

As a Thermal Systems Applications Engineer at Ford, you will play a crucial role in the design and release of thermal systems for various Ford Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) programs. Your focus will be on achieving the optimal balance of cost, weight, and functionality while ensuring high-quality standards. This position requires collaboration with multiple engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver innovative and sustainable thermal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Design and Release of Thermal Systems that meet or exceed Quality, Cost, Weight, and Functional requirements
  • Develop robust commodity workplans to support program timing and deliverables as per GPDS disciplines
  • Coordinate with interfacing activities such as PMT/ PAT, Purchasing, Engine, Vehicle Engineering, NVH, HPUT, Calibration, STA and Body Engineering to drive compatible/optimal designs that meet QCWF targets
  • Manage all DV testing and document design, development and signoffs in evidence books
  • Lead and manage CPMT meetings, design reviews, and drive for commonization
  • Manage APQP/ PSW process to achieve a flawless launch
  • Provide onsite support for launches and coordinate meetings between onsite launch teams, suppliers, and lead engineering activities.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years in climate systems preferred including internships
  • Prior Design & Release experience or working knowledge of D&R processes
  • Working knowledge of powertrain/climate systems preferred
  • Proficiency in DFMEA, PFMEA, GDT, WERS, GPDS, AIMS, G8D, Digital Buck/ CATIA, eFDVS, APQP/ PSW processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams of engineers and designers
  • Good project management skills - Use of MS Project
  • Strong problem solving skills - G8D, DMAIC
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
