About the position

The Thermoform Operator at Rplanet Earth is responsible for assisting the Lead Operator in the start-up process of thermoforming machines, ensuring the quality of extruded products, and maintaining compliance with safety and food safety standards. This role involves operating machinery, making process adjustments, and coordinating with team members to ensure efficient production operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Operator in the start-up process of thermoforming machines.
• Feed extruded sheet material through various stations of the machine.
• Examine extruded products for defects and make necessary process adjustments.
• Perform startup, shutdown, and material changeovers for assigned machines with minimal supervision.
• Report mechanical issues to the Lead, shift supervisor, or department manager.
• Issue work order requests into the system as needed.
• Understand and demonstrate knowledge of all components of the thermoforming line and associated tooling.
• Identify equipment and personnel safety issues and coordinate with Shift Lead or Supervisor to resolve them.
• Maintain compliance with company and OSHA policies regarding operations and safety issues.
• Attend all required training sessions, including safety training.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization on the production line and surrounding area.
• Move materials efficiently using forklifts and other equipment.
• Help coordinate inventory levels of production supplies with the Operator and Shift Lead.

Requirements

• 3+ years of prior work experience in a machine operator position.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Practical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic systems, and conveyor systems.
• Demonstrated safe work habits and extensive knowledge of workplace safety.
• Ability to perform simple mathematics and read complex drawings.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience with machine maintenance.
• Experience driving forklifts and utilizing material handling equipment.
