About the position

The Quality Engineer Internship at Medtronic is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering, offering a hands-on experience in quality assurance and engineering practices. Interns will engage in developing and maintaining quality standards, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams, and ensuring supplier quality. This full-time internship provides an opportunity to contribute to innovative healthcare solutions while gaining valuable industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality standards and protocols for processing materials into finished products.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Ensure that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services.
  • Qualify suppliers according to company standards and administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts.
  • Recommend design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in an engineering major with an anticipated graduation date of Winter 2025, Spring 2026, Winter 2026, or Spring 2027.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for an employment visa.
  • Ability to participate full-time (40 hours/week) during the internship period.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Flexibility in geographic location.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, and CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
  • Prior experience working on projects in a team environment.
  • Relevant academic projects, internships, or lab experience.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • FMEA knowledge.
  • Experience with statistics and data analysis.
