About the position

The Phoenix VA Health Care System (PVAHCS) is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Thoracic Surgeon to provide quality care to Veterans in Phoenix, Arizona. This role involves diagnosing and treating thoracic surgical disorders, performing a variety of surgical procedures, and supervising medical trainees. The position emphasizes work/life balance with generous paid time off and competitive compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat thoracic surgical disorders using appropriate techniques.
  • Conduct initial evaluations and overall workups for thoracic surgery patients.
  • Perform history and physical examinations for patients admitted for thoracic surgery.
  • Supervise residents and medical students from the University of Arizona Surgical Residency Program and other training programs.
  • Perform standard thoracic surgical procedures, including bronchoscopy.

Requirements

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
  • Full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. State or territory.
  • Experience in a wide variety of standard thoracic surgical procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Board-Certified in Thoracic Surgery
  • Experience supervising medical trainees.
