About the position
The Quality NDT Technician at Centric Pipe is responsible for inspecting pipes and operating equipment to ensure quality standards are met. This role involves performing various testing procedures, maintaining reports, and assisting in inventory management. The technician will work in a team environment, demonstrating knowledge of operational processes while adhering to safety and operational guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Inspect pipe and operate equipment to ensure quality standards are met.
- Collect, organize, and prepare samples for testing.
- Perform and evaluate all applicable testing accurately.
- Maintain reports on testing results and assist with inventory and product reporting.
- Direct the work of other technicians to ensure efficient quality lab processes.
- Utilize hydro equipment to test pipe at high pressure according to specifications.
- Mark the status and grade of pipe, ensuring correct stenciling.
- Perform visual inspections of outgoing pipe to ensure quality before release.
Requirements
- Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment.
- Six (6)+ months of training and close supervision in the position.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; certification is a plus.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance.
- Ability to perform intense manual labor and stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs regularly.
- Demonstrates skill in operating equipment and solving practical problems.
Nice-to-haves
- 1-2 years of experience preferred for the technician role.
- Six (6)+ months of experience in a supervisory role for foreman positions.
