About the position

The Threat and Incident Analyst will serve as a specialist within the Pitt IT Security Team, focusing on evaluating and mitigating security incidents across the university's environment. This remote position requires expertise in various security domains, including Endpoint Protection, Incident Response, Vulnerability Management, and Network Security. The Analyst will play a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and responding to cybersecurity threats and incidents, while also supporting the continuous improvement of the university's security posture.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and mitigate IT security threats and incidents.
  • Take appropriate action in response to security incidents.
  • Work with PC-related hardware, software applications, and telephony systems.
  • Communicate effectively in written and verbal forms.
  • Maintain interpersonal relations and analyze information.
  • Plan tasks and serve on project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT security or a related area.
  • Experience with SIEM and SOAR technologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as NIST 800-171, FERPA, HIPAA, and PCI.
  • CISSP or similar security certifications preferred.

  • Experience in Cloud Technologies and Security Operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and organizational abilities.
