About the position

The Threat Assessment Coordinator at Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) plays a crucial role in coordinating between community partners, behavioral health providers, and law enforcement to provide assessments, referrals, and linkage to resources for individuals identified during Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management case reviews. This position also oversees the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team, which provides support to those who have experienced traumatic incidents, ensuring effective response to targeted violence.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between OCHN, the provider network, law enforcement, and community partners.
  • Conduct clinical interviews, formulate diagnostic impressions, and make treatment recommendations as part of behavioral threat assessment activities.
  • Educate and link community partners and police agencies to appropriate mental health and substance use resources.
  • Develop and conduct presentations to educate community organizations and the public on Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of OCHN procedures and guidelines.
  • Create reports to communicate the status of initiatives and outcomes as requested.
  • Establish working relationships with agencies and community partners.
  • Coordinate with internal teams as needed.
  • Stay informed about best practices and changes in laws related to mental health and justice.
  • Oversee all CISM team activities, including meeting facilitation and data tracking.
  • Monitor Threat Assessment and CISM trainings and oversee CISM expansion.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a mental health field.
  • Active State of Michigan licenses as Psychologist (LLP, LP), Social Worker (LMSW, LLMSW), Counselor (LPC, LLPC), or Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in providing services to individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities or adults with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and relevant database software.
  • High level of interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle complex assignments accurately and timely.
  • Organizational skills to maintain office procedures and records.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed principles and knowledge of the OCHN system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Training/Experience in Crisis Intervention methods.
  • Training/Experience in Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management methods.
  • Psychiatric experience in crisis work, screening, and assessment of children and adults.
