About the position
The Threat Assessment & Mental Health Program Coordinator will lead the Threat Assessment Management Program for the Maine School Safety Center, focusing on ensuring the safety and well-being of schools by identifying potential threats and providing mental health resources. This role combines crisis management, mental health expertise, and data analysis to develop proactive solutions that promote a healthier school environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a school-based behavioral threat assessment program.
- Train and support school personnel in threat assessment practices.
- Research, write, and manage grants to support program initiatives.
- Contract and supervise instructors for program implementation.
- Develop major program policies and initiatives with statewide impact.
- Analyze and evaluate the operations and services of mental health programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, social sciences, or a related field.
- Five years of field experience in violence prevention programming.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a school setting as an administrator, social worker, psychologist, or counselor.
Nice-to-haves
- Knowledge of behavioral threat assessment management programs.
- Knowledge of current principles and practices of juvenile mental health.
- Experience in program development and oversight.
- Skills in contract negotiation and monitoring.
- Familiarity with laws and regulations governing mental health in schools.
