About the position

The Sales Associate position at the Sacramento District Council Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) is a part-time role focused on delivering excellent customer service and achieving sales goals. The Sales Associate will play a crucial role in the operation of the Thrift Store, which supports the organization's charitable efforts to assist those living in poverty. The ideal candidate will be dynamic, motivated, and eager to contribute to a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately process transactions and assist customers with inquiries, ensuring excellent customer service.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a welcoming shopping environment and report suspicious activities.
• Organize the sales floor, stock shelves, and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
• Adhere to proper cash handling procedures, perform cash register duties, and complete end-of-day processes.
• Follow safety procedures, report accidents or injuries properly.
• Assist with online sales by preparing items for shipping and maintaining accurate listings.
• Uphold all company policies and procedures, reporting any harassment or discrimination to supervisors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in a retail setting, 1-3 years preferred.
• Previous experience with a Point of Sale (POS) system, 1-3 years preferred.
• Previous experience with cash handling, 1-3 years preferred.
• Proficient in English with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and support fellow team members.
• Exhibit exceptional customer service skills, adept at handling challenging situations and consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations to foster repeat business and customer loyalty.
• Strong multitasking and prioritization skills, capable of adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic retail environment.
• Proficient in operating and navigation Point of Sale (POS) systems.
