About the position

Parsons is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tier 1 Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team in Boulder, Colorado. This position is ideal for individuals in the early stages of their IT careers who are eager to grow their technical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment. The TAP Lab, where this role is based, serves as the U.S. Space Force's premier Remote Sensing application development laboratory. It boasts a comprehensive computer and network infrastructure, providing a complete computing environment across various levels of data classification. This role requires onsite presence in Boulder from Monday to Friday during regular business hours. As a Tier 1 Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for providing essential support in systems, hardware, network, application, and storage administration, primarily within a Red Hat/ESXi environment integrated with Active Directory. Your duties will include monitoring systems for anomalies, performing initial troubleshooting, and facilitating vendor onboarding. You will also provide IT and Audio-Visual support for both classified and unclassified lab events, ensuring smooth operations during demonstrations, meetings, and symposiums. Additionally, you will maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems and network servers, implementing technical solutions to meet system requirements and generating cyber reports for analysis. This role is pivotal in maintaining the integrity and functionality of our IT infrastructure, and you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to critical missions that support our national defense and security efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite Tier I systems, hardware, network, application, and storage administration support in a primarily Red Hat/ESXi environment with Active Directory.
  • Monitor systems for anomalies or issues requiring attention or escalation.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of system issues.
  • Facilitate vendor onboarding, account creation, password resets, and software updates.
  • Provide IT and Audio-Visual support for classified and unclassified lab events, demonstrations, meetings, and symposiums.
  • Maintain, configure, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization-based hardware and software.
  • Implement technical hardware and software solutions to meet system requirements.
  • Generate, review, and analyze manual and automated cyber reports.
  • Assist in system and equipment installation, verification, and check-out.

Requirements

  • Active Secret DoD Security Clearance with ability to obtain and/or maintain a TS/SCI.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Current Security+ Certification or equivalent IAT Level II or III certification.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems administration.
  • Experience with administration and troubleshooting of virtualized and bare metal platforms (Virtual Machines, Containers, Other).
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory domains and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi.
  • Experience with adding, removing, and updating Red Hat RPMs.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals (IP, Ethernet).
  • Experience with virtualized operating system concepts and administration.
  • Working knowledge of security assessment/compliance products (HBSS, ACAS, OpenSCAP, ePO, SCC).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or Four year Degree in Computer Science preferred.
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate Certification (MCSA).
  • Experience with audio/visual systems.
  • Experience with KVMoIP systems.
  • Experience with working with a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool to monitor system alerts (Elastic preferred).
  • Working knowledge of technologies such as Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Kickstart, Chef, DHCP, Ansible, SDN, RPM.
  • Previous experience working on network devices.
  • Working knowledge of automation tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Other).
  • Experience within an Agile framework environment.
  • Working knowledge of security assessment/compliance products (HBSS, ACAS, OpenSCAP, ePO, SCC, STIGs, STIG Viewer).
  • Experience with shell scripting languages (e.g., BASH).
  • Experience with system automation and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with network administration of routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with JIRA, DI2E, and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge of complete hardware stack: rack, power, compute (CPU and GPU), storage (NAS, SAN, Scale-out, and Object), network (switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls), workstation, and display.
  • Intermediate knowledge of RHEL administration (RHEL 6 and above).
  • Management of virtualization, cloud, and container technology (VMware workstation/vSphere/vCenter/ESXi, AWS EC2/S3/Glacier, Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).
  • Fluent in one or more of the following scripting areas: Shell, Python or Perl.
