About the position

The Tier 2 Network Engineer role at Insight Global involves providing advanced troubleshooting methodologies to resolve complex network issues. The engineer will serve as the initial point of contact for incident management, assist in aligning technical priorities within the Network Operations Center (NOC), and mentor junior staff. This position requires a strong understanding of Cisco network products and protocols, as well as the ability to support critical service-related issues for both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provides troubleshooting methodologies to independently solve problems in broad, complex & unique networks with mixed media & protocols.
  • Acts as the initial point of contact for incident management and escalation of incidents to ensure issue resolution.
  • Assists Operations Manager in aligning the technical priorities of the NOC and validates technical proficiencies of the team.
  • Mentors junior staff in basic network administration and structures relevant training plans.
  • Provides support to internal and external customers during critical service-related issues.
  • Understands customer expectations and manages or sets proper expectations.
  • Supports either day or night shifts aligned to a 24x7x365 team supporting customer mission critical environments.
  • Uses excellent critical thinking skills and exercises good judgment to solve problems quickly and effectively.

Requirements

  • Sole US Citizenship with Active TS Clearance or Higher
  • Must have IAT 2 level certification (Sec+, CCNA-Security, SySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP)
  • CCNA Certification
  • Showcase CCNP level knowledge (does not need cert) including knowledge of IPSEC or GRE, Cisco CLI, Cisco Dynamic Multipoint VPN, VRFs, VSS, Routing protocols (specifically EIGRP), VLANs, HSRP, ACLs, NAT, Upgrading Cisco devices
  • Experience with a Network Management System such as Solarwinds, Zenoss, or Thousand Eyes
  • Experience in a customer-facing role or with customer interactions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to define risk, identify potential threats and develop action/mitigation plans
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine) technology
  • Previous experience working in a Network Operations Center
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Cisco security technologies: Firepower, StealthWatch, ASA or VPN
  • Experience with a SIEM product such as Kibana or Splunk
  • Knowledge of automation and how to implement Ansible, APIs, EEM, TCL Scripts, Minor Linux familiarity, ASAs, virtualization/VMs
