About the position

The Tier II / Configuration Management Network Technician (Network Designer II) at AT&T Global Public Sector plays a crucial role in supporting the Federal Government's National Security Team. This position involves providing design specifications, testing, and inspections for computer networks, as well as planning and implementing upgrades. The technician will analyze, organize, and troubleshoot hardware and software solutions through network modeling, ensuring the integrity and performance of the network systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with innovative technologies and contribute to critical operations within the Intelligence Community.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date record of all system components (hardware and software).
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets.
  • Establish and maintain consistency of a system or product performance, functions, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information.
  • Draft and implement standard network change requests.
  • Coordinate with external Configuration Management stakeholders across the ecosystem where required.
  • Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades.
  • Develop policy for documenting and changing baseline project configuration items.
  • Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN's, Port Security, Thin Configs).
  • Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network while maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situations.
  • Support operations from a Configuration Management perspective in their administration of networks including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
  • Maintain the network configuration baselines to ensure it follows DISA STIG guidelines.
  • Documenting and changing baseline project network configuration items.
  • Maintain historical Configuration Management records and requisite knowledge in approved shared databases.
  • Provide support to the Configuration Management Board, scheduling meetings, developing agendas, enter board related data in databases.
  • Create/provide drawing, diagraming, and network mapping expertise and support to the Configuration Management Team.
  • Manage Configuration Management support to the creation of IT-IA-IM software executables to environments (development, test, staging and production).
  • Provide support to the Configuration Control Board (CCB), schedule applicable meetings, develop localized agenda and policy.
  • Establish, train, and maintain network drawing standards to serve all contract requirements.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in a related field, which can be a combination of work history and education.
  • Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 certification.
  • Familiarity with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS OS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with complex network analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with Visio, ServiceNow, and Confluence.
