About the position

Volt is seeking a skilled TIG Welder Fabricator to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This position is ideal for individuals who have a strong background in TIG welding and are looking for a full-time opportunity in a supportive and growth-oriented environment. As a Welder Fabricator, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding tasks, primarily using TIG welding techniques, while also being familiar with MIG welding and metal fabrication processes. Your role will involve preparing setups, conducting preventative maintenance, and ensuring the cleanliness and operation of your assigned area. You will also be tasked with reading blueprints, taking measurements, and determining the appropriate welding methods based on project specifications. Quality assurance is a key aspect of this position, as you will need to test and inspect welded surfaces to ensure they meet production standards. The work environment is friendly and encourages advancement, making it a great place for those looking to build a long-term career. The position requires physical stamina, as you will need to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least two years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Certification as an AWS Certified Welder is preferred, and candidates will be required to demonstrate their welding proficiency through a practical assessment prior to employment. This is a second shift position, with hours from 3:30 PM to midnight, and initial training may occur during the first shift for the first two weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG welding tasks with a focus on quality and precision.
  • Prepare setups and administer preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Oversee the cleaning and operation of the assigned work area.
  • Read and interpret drawings and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Determine and execute appropriate welding methods based on specifications.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces to ensure quality production standards are met.
  • Cut, join, and shape metal and other materials using heat and various tools.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with TIG welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding and metal fabricating.
  • Ability to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and taking measurements.
  • Capability to test and inspect welded surfaces for quality assurance.
  • AWS Certified Welder certification (preferred).
  • High school diploma, GED, trade school, or equivalent.
  • 2 years of previous experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior training in machine safety and quality awareness.
  • Proficiency in tack welding techniques.
