About the position

The TikTok Social Media Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing the online presence of a nonprofit advocacy group dedicated to promoting democratic values both domestically and internationally. This full-time, remote position is designed for a creative individual who is passionate about social media and has a strong understanding of TikTok as a platform. Reporting directly to the Director of Social Media, the manager will be responsible for launching and managing the organization's TikTok account, ensuring that the content resonates with a younger audience while aligning with the organization's mission and values. In this role, the manager will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive TikTok strategy, collaborating closely with the social media team and senior leadership. The position requires a proactive approach to content creation, including the production of engaging videos, captions, and hashtags that capture the attention of TikTok users. The manager will also monitor trending topics and news relevant to the organization's community, coordinating responses with leadership and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective communication. Additionally, the TikTok Social Media Manager will maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent posting and will work with issue experts to repurpose content across various platforms. Building relationships with TikTok creators and influencers will be essential for exploring partnership opportunities that can amplify the organization's message. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in front of the camera, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the launch of the organization's TikTok platform.
  • Learn or have a strong understanding of current events that impact this organization's community.
  • Collaborate with the social media team, senior leadership, and the Leadership Department to develop a TikTok strategy.
  • Create and curate engaging TikTok content, including videos, captions, and hashtags.
  • Monitor trending news and social media topics, coordinating the organization's response with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Leadership Department to generate content ideas for a young audience.
  • Support college students and young leaders in their TikTok content creation.
  • Optimize TikTok content for other platforms.
  • Maintain a TikTok content calendar for consistent posting.
  • Coordinate with issue experts and the content creation team on messaging and content repurposing.
  • Stay updated on TikTok algorithm changes and best practices to enhance organic reach.
  • Build relationships with TikTok creators and influencers to explore partnership opportunities.
  • Manage user interactions on TikTok.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media video production and creation.
  • 2-3 years of TikTok video creation experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or communications or a similar field is required.
  • Flexible work approach, with availability to work evenings and weekends to address breaking developments and news that impacts the organization.
  • Have experience working remotely effectively.
  • Comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
