About the position

As the Assistant Store Manager at Timberland, you will play a crucial role in leading and developing a team of Brand Advocates to deliver a Best in Class customer experience. You will work closely with the Store Manager to enhance profitability through effective customer engagement, merchandising, and operational excellence, while fostering an inclusive environment that prioritizes both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop staff to exceed individual and store productivity goals.
  • Promote excellence in customer service by modeling brand specific service standards and monitoring customer feedback.
  • Supervise floor coverage and activities, including opening and closing the store as scheduled.
  • Provide training and ongoing development of store staff in customer engagement and company programs.
  • Support the Store Manager in achieving financial and operational objectives, including expense control and store audits.
  • Assist in the selection and hiring of qualified candidates.
  • Implement visual merchandising directives and maintain brand standards.
  • Ensure compliance with loss prevention and safety policies and procedures.
  • Model behavior that respects the background and cultural differences of others.
  • Promote an environment that encourages participation, creativity, and learning.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of store leadership experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to build, lead, and manage a high performing team.
  • Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales results.
  • Excellent decision-making ability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a specialty retail environment, particularly in footwear/apparel.
  • Associate Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
