About the position

The TIRE IT Kindergarten Teacher position at Pratt Elementary is responsible for providing appropriate instruction to elementary students, ensuring they meet learning objectives and standards for their grade level. The teacher will implement a standards-based curriculum, utilize technology, and collaborate with special education staff to support all students' learning needs. This role requires strong communication skills and a commitment to student achievement, along with the ability to maintain classroom control and participate in school improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement Kanawha County Schools' standards-based curriculum based on WV Content Standards and Objectives.
  • Implement adopted and supplemental academic programs.
  • Incorporate 21st Century technology skills into teaching.
  • Plan and implement a collaborative model with special education students and teachers.
  • Plan and implement designated co-curricular activities and programs such as curricular fairs, awards programs, and field trips.
  • Be accountable for individual student achievement.
  • Plan and implement personalized learning for all students.
  • Maintain strong communication with students, parents, and peers.
  • Implement programs designated by the principal for school improvement.
  • Maintain classroom control and discipline.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certificate for the appropriate specializations and grade levels as per WV Code §18A-3-2.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check as per WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10.
  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with experience and education level according to Kanawha County Teacher Salary Schedule.
  • Minimum 200 days of employment annually.
