About the position

The Papermaking Developmental Manufacturing Engineer position at Georgia-Pacific is part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP), designed to cultivate skilled manufacturing engineers. This role involves hands-on learning and collaboration with experienced professionals to enhance manufacturing processes in papermaking. The position emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency while providing opportunities for professional growth and mentorship within a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Actively learn and develop manufacturing knowledge and skills through guided and self-directed activities.
  • Work closely with mill operations and cross-functional teams to understand and improve paper-making processes, focusing on safety, quality, productivity, and cost-efficiency.
  • Define and optimize operating parameters for various papermaking processes and share this knowledge to strengthen the skills of the operations team.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the standardization and efficiency of paper machine assets.
  • Engage with mentors and subject matter experts to acquire operational, technical, and leadership capabilities.
  • Conduct learning sessions to disseminate knowledge within the manufacturing environment.
  • Work with an awareness of safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Paper Science Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Eligible for full time employment on or before Summer 2025.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States.
