About the position

The Research Analyst is a grant-funded position at Rhodes State College, reporting directly to the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness Planning (IEP) and collaborating closely with the Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Affairs (VPEMSA). This role is pivotal in supporting Title III initiatives by engaging in the collection, tracking, analysis, evaluation, and visualization of data to facilitate informed decision-making and to report on grant project goals. The Research Analyst will be an integral part of the Institutional Research (IR) team, responsible for developing and maintaining data dashboards and visualizations, assisting with data requests, and creating various data-informed materials that enhance the availability, accessibility, and utilization of resources. The position is primarily based on the main campus, with eligibility for some remote work options. The Research Analyst will serve as a member of the Title III Grant core team, participating in regular meetings and providing essential data for grant activities. This role requires interpreting both internal and external data dashboards and visualizations related to project activities, coordinating the gathering and analysis of data for grant reporting and compliance, and managing multiple databases. Additionally, the Research Analyst will co-create professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, focusing on the requesting, interpreting, and utilizing of institutional data. The position also involves creating reports that summarize Title III data using clear and concise charts and tables, maintaining a secure data environment, and ensuring the confidentiality of information managed by Institutional Research. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Title III Grant core team, attending regular meetings and providing data for grant activities.
  • Interpret internal and external data dashboards and other data visualizations related to project activities.
  • Coordinate the gathering and analysis of data for the purposes of grant reporting and compliance.
  • Assist with management of multiple databases.
  • Co-create professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to cover requesting, interpreting, and utilizing institutional data.
  • Create reports related to Title III that summarize data using clear and concise charts and tables.
  • Maintain a secure data environment, ensuring confidentiality of information secured and controlled by Institutional Research.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
  • Experience in writing functional specifications and documentation.
  • Ability to respond to data needs and effectively organize projects.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data for reporting and decision-making, including survey design and analysis of results.

Nice-to-haves

  • Use of MS SQL Management Studio.
  • Working knowledge of relational database technology, data mining, and higher education administrative systems; experience with Ellucian Banner and Tableau is a plus.
  • Experience in higher education, familiarity with the National Student Clearinghouse, use of StudentTracker, and reporting to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
