About the position

At FCS Financial, part of the Farm Credit System and the largest lending cooperative in the United States, we are seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join our esteemed team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting our internal legal counsel, title services, loan services, and marketplace by managing real estate transactions. The responsibilities include preparing and reviewing legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and addressing inquiries related to title work and loan documentation. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our legal services department. The Paralegal will be instrumental in facilitating smooth real estate transactions by meticulously reviewing documents and ensuring that all legal requirements are met. This role requires a strong understanding of real estate law and the closing process, as well as the ability to conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis. The position is designed for individuals who possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively. FCS Financial offers flexible work options, including flexible hours and hybrid work arrangements, which can be considered after the initial training period based on the candidate's qualifications and needs. The preferred office location is in Jefferson City, MO, but we are open to other locations within Missouri for the right talent. This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and will remain open until filled.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal legal counsel in managing real estate transactions.
  • Prepare and review legal documents related to title work and loan documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Field questions regarding title work and loan documentation.
  • Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the legal services department to optimize efficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of the Association's systems and client data.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in paralegal studies; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Paralegal Certification.
  • 3 years of related experience as a real estate paralegal or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of real estate law and transactions.
  • Working knowledge of title insurance and closing processes.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in processing complex information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hybrid work environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and complete work in a timely manner.
