About the position

The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, PA is excited to announce a new physician-scientist and research faculty position within the Department of Radiation Oncology. This role is designed for investigators (MD, DO, MD/PhD) who possess clinical and/or research expertise in various specialized areas including Immuno-oncology, Cancer Informatics, Geriatric Oncology, Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics, Radiation Biology, and Radiotheranostics. The ideal candidates will be those who are wet laboratory-based or translational investigators, demonstrating the capability to develop an independent research program. Successful candidates will be provided with protected time for research and mentoring, fostering an environment that encourages collaborative team science. Preference will be given to those focused on SKCC priorities, which include lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, and hematologic malignancies. The SKCC is an NCI-designated consortium cancer center that collaborates with researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University, boasting a large regional footprint with multiple interconnected advanced care hubs. The center offers existing resources such as large patient volumes in all priority cancers, clinically-annotated biorepositories, a centralized IRB, and a single electronic health record system across all sites. We are actively recruiting for multiple positions, catering to both early-stage investigators and established/funded investigators. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications, and recruited faculty will receive generous start-up funds, a competitive salary, and access to modern facilities, along with administrative and infrastructure services. Responsibilities

  • Develop an independent research program in the field of Radiation Oncology.
  • Conduct clinical and/or laboratory-based research in areas such as Immuno-oncology, Cancer Informatics, and Cancer Genetics.
  • Collaborate with other researchers and faculty within the SKCC and affiliated institutions.
  • Mentor junior faculty and trainees in research methodologies and scientific inquiry.
  • Engage in grant writing and securing funding for research initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental and institutional committees as needed.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical and/or research areas relevant to Radiation Oncology.
  • Experience in developing and leading independent research programs.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with clinical trials and patient-oriented research.
  • Familiarity with biostatistics and data analysis in cancer research.
  • Previous funding from national agencies or foundations.
