About the position

Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. Poplar Springs Hospital is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calm and peace. We offer families hope through a nurturing environment for adults and adolescents to flourish in their environment. We have a new opening for a TMS Coordinator. The TMS Coordinator will assist in providing safe, effective patient care under the direction of the Program Director/Manager and Unit Charge Nurse. The TMS Coordinator has a significant role in direct patient care and is a critical participant in providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients/residents through the use of effective HWC, CPR and S/R techniques. The TMS Coordinator mentors new hires and students in unit routines. Performs administrative duties as assigned. Acts as a role model to patients/residents. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Performs other duties as assigned. Hours will vary and applicants need to have flexibility with his/her availability.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license in good standing per UHS Transportation policy strongly preferred.
  • CPR Preferred (offered on-site).
  • Handle With Care Preferred (offered on-site).
  • Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • TMS Certification strongly preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.).
  • Computer skills helpful.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.

  • Human behavior or principles of psychology preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
