About the position

Texas Hill Country TMS is seeking a dedicated TMS Technician for our Killeen location, with opportunities for both part-time and full-time employment. This role is centered around the administration of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatments, specifically designed for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression. The successful candidate will undergo training on the TMS machine and will be required to earn their TMS certification. Once certified, the technician will be responsible for delivering daily TMS treatments to a patient load ranging from 10 to 25 individuals per day. The TMS Technician will work closely under the supervision of a practice manager and a board-certified psychiatrist, ensuring that patient care is prioritized and that there is easy access for discussing treatment plans and patient progress. The role requires a commitment to learning and adapting to new technologies and treatment modalities, as well as a strong focus on providing compassionate care to patients. In this position, the technician will be responsible for scheduling TMS treatment appointments, administering treatments according to established protocols, and creating a supportive environment for patients during their sessions. This includes preparing the treatment area, ensuring patient comfort, and effectively communicating the TMS procedures and their potential effects. The technician will also be involved in recording session notes, assisting patients with psychiatric rating scales, and maintaining regular communication with both current and former patients. Weekly and biweekly meetings with the practice manager and psychiatrist will be part of the role, along with monthly all-team meetings to ensure cohesive patient care and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling TMS treatment appointments 5 days per week, with assistance from the practice manager.
  • Administering TMS treatments according to protocols provided by mental healthcare professionals.
  • Arriving punctually to prepare the TMS machine and create a relaxing environment for patients.
  • Accurately positioning the TMS equipment's electromagnetic coil for effective treatment.
  • Explaining TMS procedures and answering patient questions regarding the treatment.
  • Creating a supportive treatment environment and demonstrating compassion towards patients.
  • Assisting patients in completing psychiatric rating scales weekly and promoting reviews.
  • Recording session notes and collaborating with the certified TMS psychiatrist and practice manager on patient care.
  • Participating in weekly meetings with the practice manager and biweekly meetings with the psychiatrist.
  • Updating patient census spreadsheets daily and sending coordination of care letters to patients.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Experience in patient care is preferred.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is necessary.
  • Ability to provide quality care while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with patients suffering from anxiety and depression is preferred.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in electronic health recordkeeping software.
